SCHOOL-FAMILY ENGAGEMENT

Community, schools and families have essential roles in promoting positive development and academic performance in our youth. When stakeholders operate cohesively as partners, they create important opportunities to advocate for adolescents to develop social, emotional, and academic competencies.

Social Emotional Learning (SEL)

BUILDING COMMUNITIES OF HOPE FOSTERING LEADERSHIP, EXCELLENCE AND SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY.

The social emotional wellbeing of children that enter foster care has a tremendous consequence on their lives. Complex trauma discovery involves the simultaneous or progressive existence of child maltreatment, including psychological maltreatment, neglect, exposure to violence and physical and sexual abuse. Trauma can be intensified by the removal of children from their families and communities and by adversarial experiences in foster care. Ongoing research continues to reveal negative long-term consequences of traumatic stress, especially repeated exposure to trauma to children who have been abused or neglected, on physical, cognitive, social and emotional functioning.

Integrating social and emotional development improves students mindset and engagement. Providing family support resources that equip and engage families as they support emotional health of themselves, and their children is what we incorporate.

The world is full of flawed people expecting others not to be flawed. We live in a world full of trauma and expect people to not be living expressions of said trauma. The foster care system is broken but can be mended. Families have been under attack, and we must continue the objective of keeping families unified. We must break the cycle of the Foster Care System to the Criminal Justice System. Hope Nation is a platform powered by MentorScope Community Outreach for individuals who currently are in or transitioned out of the Foster Care System that shows an outpouring of forgiveness, strength, and gratitude and offers an inspirational personal account of overcoming.
